A 鈥楽tudents v Staff鈥 football event will be taking place at our Wembley Campus this coming week in support of mental health charity .

The event will see the women鈥檚 academy, as well as the men鈥檚 second and third teams taking on coaches at Silver Jubilee Park on Wednesday, March 20.

Kick off for the first match will be at 1.30pm on the Wednesday afternoon, with the games finishing at 4pm.

There will also be a raffle and bake sale to drive funds for MIND, with the aim of raising 拢1,000 in total.

BA (Hons) Football Coaching and Management student Megan Abbott has started a in the build-up to the event, which has already raised more than 拢400.

On the page, Megan says: 鈥淢ind is an amazing charity that aims to give advice and support to empower anyone struggling with mental health. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

鈥淭hey have fantastic resources available for university students - from helping them navigate the big change of moving to university, to supporting university students who may be having a mental health crisis.

鈥淭he statistics on suicide and mental health at the moment are shocking, and it really put things into perspective about how precious life is, and how important it is that everybody has a support network around them when they are facing difficult times. The more money we can raise for charities such as Mind, the more lives we can help save.

鈥淔ootball is a fantastic way to join people together, and so we are doing a football tournament to raise money for this brilliant charity. We will have students and staff from all different courses coming together to each contribute their skills to making the event as successful as possible.鈥

To donate towards the event, to help reach the goal of 拢1,000.
